Thank You for Your Support in 2007

Our Volunteer Staff is working hard on putting together our 2007 Annual Report, and we want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who became a member of Rock the Earth, bid on an item in an auction, dropped a few bucks in a donation jar, or even just spread the word about our growing organization. It is only through generous grassroots support from kind donors and volunteers like YOU that we were able to accomplish so much in 2007! To preview some of our 2007 accomplishments, consider the following:

  • Rock the Earth's Annual Education and Outreach Tour included nearly 100 concert events, 130 concert dates, and reached well over 1 million people
  • Rock the Earth was present on some of the summer's biggest tours in Rock, including Ozzfest, the Warped Tour, the Allman Brothers Band, Incubus, and the Dave Matthews Band
  • Rock the Earth raised over $125,000 in 2007, the vast majority of which was from grassroots memberships and donations
  • In only its third full year in operation, Rock the Earth continued to prosecute its first litigation matter (our lawsuit against the National Park Service over the Colorado River Management Plan) and worked on no less than a dozen other issues, including a successful public campaign to persuade Wal-Mart to cease selling cypress mulch from the Gulf Region
  • Rock the Earth's active membership grew to nearly 2,100 paid members!
  • Rock the Earth's database and monthly e-newsletter subscription list grew to over 15,000 people!
  • Rock the Earth received significant funding from a variety of charitable and for-profit sources that included the Yahoo! Employees' Foundation, Bonnaroo Music Festival/Superfly Presents/AC Entertainment, New Belgium Brewing Company, Stoneyfield Farms, Bonnie Raitt's Aria Foundation, the All Good Festival, the Fox Theatre (Boulder), Jam Cruise, and TicketsWest
  • Bands that put on benefits for Rock the Earth included the Everyone Orchestra, Hot Buttered Rum, Umphrey's McGee, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Rob Drabkin, and the Winter Jamfest tour
  • Rock the Earth played a large part in the environmental programming at Bonnaroo, Jam Cruise, the Northwest String Summit and the Echo Project, and also partnered with the All Good Festival, Wakarusa, and Mountain Jam

And most importantly, Rock the Earth accomplished all of this with only one full-time and two part-time hard-working paid employees. Our thanks to our supporters, our Volunteer Staff, our Advisory Board and our volunteers for making 2007 our most successful year ever!! Look for the full Annual Report on our website in March!
