| Sean McNamara,
Ph.D. |
Dr. Sean McNamara is a member of the Rock the Earth
Board of Directors and sits on the Legal & Technical Committee.
From 2004-2006, Sean also served on the Board of Directors. Sean
is a former Managing Engineer for an environmental consulting
firm that specializes in contaminated sediment issues. Sean is
currently is involved in managing several aspects of the remedial
design for the Hudson River PCB site cleanup. Sean has professional
experience in several aspects of contaminated soil and sediment
problems, including the management of geophysical, surface water,
and contaminated soil/sediment investigations, the development
of project work plans and QAPPs, the design and application of
innovative sampling techniques, field sampling and oversight,
construction management, environmental chemistry and contaminant
bioavailability, statistics for environmental processes, analytical
chemistry, and the physical and mathematical modeling of environmental
processes. Sean holds M.S. amd Ph.D. degrees in Environmental
Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. degree
in Engineering Science (Environmental) from Colorado State University.
Sean has an extensive and varied environmental research background,
which includes four years conducting air pollution research at
a wind tunnel modeling facility in CO, one year conducting field
studies directed at refining the design standards for remote residential
constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment in alpine climates,
and six years investigating sampling and modeling techniques to
assess the bioavailability of PCBs in contaminated soils undergoing
passive biotreatment. Sean is a member of the American Society
of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Society for Environmental Toxicology
and Chemistry (SETAC), and is currently pursuing registration
as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of New York.
