| Marc Ross is President and Executive Director of
Rock the Earth. Marc also Co-Chairs the Legal and Technical Committee.Between
1998 and 2004, Marc was one of four in-house environmental attorneys
at Alcoa Inc., serving as the company's primary water counsel
and counseling the company on a wide variety of national and international
environmental compliance, permitting and remediation issues. Prior
to his work in-house, Marc was an Associate in the Pittsburgh
office of Reed Smith, counseling clients on a variety of environmental
compliance and permitting issues in the areas of mining, air quality,
wetlands, and natural gas. Before joining Reed Smith, Marc was
Assistant Counsel in the Pennsylvania DEP Office of Chief Counsel's
Southcentral Region Litigation Office. While at DEP, Marc represented
the Department in matters related to mining, water quality and
hazardous waste, litigating cases before the Environmental Hearing
Board, the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court, the Courts of Common
Pleas, the Pennsylvania Board of Claims and the U. S. District
Bankruptcy Court. He is a former Council member of the Allegheny
County Bar Association Environmental Section (1999-2002). Marc
received his B.A. in 1990 from the Pennsylvania State University
and his J.D. in 1993 from the Dickinson School of Law. Marc has
spoken on corporate environmental practice at the Pennsylvania
Bar Association's Annual Environmental Law Forum and has published
articles in both the Dickinson Journal of Environmental Law and
Policy as well as the Dickinson Journal of International Law.
When not practicing law, Marc spends his time reading, engaged
in outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, camping and
canoeing, or chasing any number of bands across the country. |
